The Nails Inc NOTD

I've posted swatches of both polishes before (here and here) and even though I haven't used either shade in a long time I do really like them BUT when paired together, it's love! Peach Sorbet was an InStyle freebie and Holly Place was part of a limited edition collection in 2012 so probably isn't available now but they aren't exactly unique shades, I'm sure dupes will be easy to find.

Products used:
Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Base Coat
Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Top Coat
Nails Inc Peach Sorbet (x2 coats)
Nails Inc Holly Place (x2 coats)

There's just something about this combo that makes me feel all summery and happy :)

NOTD: Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure 'Ion'

I have a bit of a sickness, I can't go into a pound shop without buying at least one nail polish. Most of the time the colours look more than just a bit dodgy and have separated in the bottles but every now and then there are some lovely shades hidden away from new-ish collections and if crackle polishes from O.P.I are your thang, head to Poundworld/land now (I always get the 2 mixed up). I don't even like crackle polishes and almost bought a few just cause they were only a quid but then I realised I'll never wear them, making them not so much of a bargain for me. Instead I came away with 2 Sally Hansen Shades 'Sea' and 'Ion'

'Ion' was released in 2012 and I believe was created for Sally Hansen by Alexander Wang. The shade is described as stone-like, what an exciting description! But that's exactly what it is and I love it. I love a wide brush and the Complete Salon Manicure brushes are just that but they're also quite thick which I imagine could make for a messy paint job for anyone with narrow nail beds but for me it was fine. As with most polishes, one coat left a streaky finish but the second coat evened everything out.

Products Used:
Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Base Coat
Sally Hansen 'Ion' (2 coats)
Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Top Coat

Nails: Autumnal Hues

I've been itchin' to get back into my darker, more wintry nail polish shades for aaaages. I'm still the biggest fan of white, off white, pinky white nails and wear them all year round but there's just something about darker talons that make you look more polished as if you've had your mani done by a pro. Here's a few of my favourite nail polish shades for Autumn.

O.P.I - My Private Jet, Leighton Denny - Forbidden Territory, Leighton Denny - Steel Appeal, MAC - Anti-Fashion

Leighton Denny - Passion (much deeper in real life), Essence - Irreplaceable, Leighton Denny - Feel The Burn

Nails Inc - Porchester Square, L'Oreal - Mysteriousicon, Chanel - Vertigo

All swatches are 2 coats with no base or top coat.

Leighton Denny - Passion is gorgeous in person. It's what I would describe as a true blood red and as you can probably tell from the photos, I'm almost at the end of the bottle. 'Feel The Burn' and 'Forbidden Territory' have been in my collection for at least 2 years but I don't think I've ever worn them. Not sure why as they're really Autumn appropriate, they remind me of leaves.

Love: MAC Paint Pots 'Rubenesque' & 'Painterly'

I have a confession to make: MAC is a brand I love to hate. It all started years ago when I walked into MAC asking for a foundation. I left the counter with my purse almost 100 quid lighter and looking like I was off to take part in a drag act. I was froze in the chair with fear, I couldn't take my eye's of the SA's fancy dress style makeup and from then untill I started this blog I never went back. I hated the foundation they recommended for my skin, it made me look like a bright pink wax work! Within half an hour my face looked like it was melting and the brush (187): match made in hell.

It wasn't untill I joined the blogging world that I decided I needed to get me some MAC lippies. I went for the Cremesheen formula and guess what, I loved them! The next thing I went for was a Mineral Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle which I also love and after reading countless rave reviews on the eyeshadows I felt the need to buy some - hated them. I swore I wasn't going to try anything else from the brand but I'm so glad my curiosity got the better of me.

Top: Painterly | Bottom: Rubenesque
I recently ordered 2 Paint Pots: Painterly & Rubenesque. Painterly looks like the most boring shade I've ever laid eyes on but it's also the most useful. I don't wear eyeshadow everyday but my eyelids have a lot of discolouration which needs covered up. Painterly covers EVERYTHING and matches my eyelid colour perfectly. It's one of those products that instantly make you look better but no one knows you're wearing anything. It can be used as a base for other shadows but I only use it on it's own to create a clean eye look with lashings of mascara. I've even used it under my eyes when I'm having a lazy day and my dark circles aren't too bad. Painterly is a product everyone should own. Rubenesque unlike Painterly isn't at all boring to look at and is so easy to swipe on when you're in a rush. I don't go to town with my eye makeup for daytime looks, I don't often bother adding a darker colour in the crease. I'm a one lid colour girl so products like this are perfect for me. It can be sheered out for a really subtle look or you can layer it up for more colour pay off.

The texture is really creamy but dries down once on the lid and doesn't budge or crease on me at all. I love both and NEED to get more. What shades should I try next?

Were you late getting on the Paint Pot Train like me?

Review & Swatches: Pur Minerals Beautiful Creatures Inspired Palette

Pur Minerals Beautiful Creatures Inspired Palette*

After being really impressed by the Pur Minerals CC Cream I was so excited when the postie handed me a parcel containing this limited edition eyeshadow palette inspired by the film Beautiful Creatures. As I'm sure most of you are aware, I'm incredibly fussy when it come's to eyeshadow textures and colours. I'm probably never going to step out of neutral shade territory and if pigmentation is poor, I'm not going to put in any extra effort to make it look half decent. I'm more than happy to experiment with bright colours on my lips but my lids, thats just a no-go area.

The palette contains 8 eyeshadows, eyeshadow brush, black eyeliner & lipgloss. All the shadows are what I would describe as wearable shades. There's no groovy colours included (you know the ones I mean, they never get touched unless you're heading to a fancy dress party) and the colour pay off/texture is very similar to Urban Decay. Urban Decay is my favourite brand when it comes to eyeshadow so any shadow I'm trying out for the first time automatically gets compared to the mighty UD. I never have problems with my shadow creasing even without primer and on me the shades only faded slightly by the end of the day. Pigmentation is so strong that you wouldn't need to use primer to intensify the colour (but you could), only if you're prone to creasing.

The eyeliner Black Magic glides onto the lid easily, there's no dragging as the formula is so soft but because of that it smudges very easily. Not great for anyone with hooded or oily lids. The lip gloss Lust/Desire is a sheer milky pink and staying power is quite good for a gloss.

The eyeshadows are fantastic, I can't fault them. The palette is small and contains a good sized mirror so would be a great thing to keep in your bag as the shades can be used to create both day & night looks. The eyeliner was a bit of a let down and the gloss didn't blow me away but the palette itself is worth tracking down. Unfortunately this palette won't be coming to the UK. I think I'm right in saying it's only available in the US but it's times like this when Ebay is your friend.

Swatched: The Pinks

I've downsized my nail polish collection quite a lot over the last few months. I sold loads in my blog sale, gave some to friends/family and some were gloopy beyond repair so into the bin they went. Pink is my favourite colour to wear on my nails - sheer pinks, bright pinks, white pinks, peachy pinks, baby pinks. Any type of pink really so it's no surprise that the majority of my collection is made up of pink.

I've swatched all the ones I've kept so this is going to be a very pic heavy post. All swatches are 2 coats with no base/top coat.

Milani '513 Digital'

O.P.I 'Feelin' Hot-Hot-Hot'

Virgin Vie 'Shocking Pink'

Nails Inc 'Oxford Circus'

Essie 'Van D'Go'

BarryM '279 Bright Pink'

Nails Inc 'Brook Street'

Orly 'Lola'

Filthy Gorgeous 'Rosy Posy'*

Nails Inc 'Shoreditch'

BarryM '119 Baby Pink'

Nails Inc 'Picadilly Circus'

Rimmel 'Pop Rose'

Nails Inc There's no name but I think it's 'Peach Sorbet'

Chanel 'Rose Insolent'

BarryM '309 Strawberry'

Leighton Denny 'Talk Of The Town'

L'Oreal 'Opera Ballerina'

Nails Inc 'Belgrave Square'

O.P.I 'I'm All Ears'

O.P.I 'If You Moust You Moust'

Nails Inc 'Elizabeth Street'

Essie 'We're In It Together'

Nails Inc 'Brompton Place'

Essie 'Cascade Cool'

Dior 'Rosy Bow'

BarryM 'Pomegranate'

Essie 'Fiji'

My all time favourite and most used pink polish (apart from Opera Ballerina) is Nails Inc Brompton Place but lately my favourite has been Dior Rosy Bow, it looks lovely on pale skin and after slapping on some tan, coral tones start to appear. It doesn't look like anything special in the bottle but it's a gorgeous colour! The formula is brilliant, lasts around 4 days on my nails. The brush is great too, reminds me a lot of the Rimmel pro brushes but shorter and thicker.
