Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush 'Exposed' & Nars 'Douceur' Comparison

Tarte 'Exposed' | Nars 'Douceur'

Lina recently went to NY and was kind enough to ask if there was anything I wanted. After having a bit of a clappy seal hand moment Tarte instantly came to mind! I'd always wanted 'Exposed' so that's what I asked for. While she was away I was looking up swatches online and found quite a few posts saying that 'Exposed' was a dupe for 'Douceur' I already owned 'Douceur' and was cursing myself for asking for a dupe BUT I don't think they're dupes at all.

Nars 'Douceur' | Tarte 'Exposed'

'Douceur' is one of my favourite blushers. I'm pale so can use it to contour as well as it's intended use as blush. It's described as a soft pink-brown but is a lot more brown than pink.

Exposed' is described as nude but as you can see from the swatches it's much more pink toned yet they look almost identical in pan form.

Packaging: I love NARS blush packaging! It's thin enough not to take up much space, has a nice mirror, is easy to open but shuts securely. The only thing I'm not so fond of is the rubber-ish matte finish, it's a dirt collector! I might be in the minority here but I think the Tarte blush packaging looks a bit cheap. I do like it, it's well made and shuts securely (maybe a bit too securely) but the plastic just screams cheap to me. It contains a good sized mirror and I love how the colour of the packaging matches the shade of blush inside.

Longevity: The Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushers claim to last for 12 hours. I very rarely wear make up for that length of time so can't say if it's true or not but during 8 hours it doesn't fade or go patchy, neither does 'Douceur'

Finish: The finish for both shades is matte. They're both pigmented but you don't really need to use a light hand with these types of shades which I why I use them so often.

Price: NARS £21.50 for 4.8g | Tarte $26 for 5.6g

Both shades are similar yet very different but do I think you need both? No. I like having both and don't have a favourite but the one thing that bugs me about NARS is the inclusion of parabens! Tarte blushers are cruelty free. They're free from mineral oil, parabens, petrolatum, phthalates, SLS & synthetic fragrance. They contains beeswax, vitamin E, vitamin C, mineral pigments and amazonian clay. I know some people with fair skin find 'Douceur' looks a bit muddy (I'm fair but don't have that problem) so if you're concerned about that go for 'Exposed'.

Do you own either of these shades?
What one do you prefer?

  1. Those are both really pretty. As for choosing one, I think I prefer the Tarte Exposed.

    1. Exposed looks much nicer when they're swatched side by side.

  3. I don't have either. I don't like pink tones on me or else I would go for Exposed.
    Great comparison !

    1. Certain shades of pink really don't suit me but Exposed is fine as it isn't too pink.
