NOTD: Chanel Le Vernis 'Rose Insolent'

You can't deny Chanel come out with some stunning shades every collection but you also can't deny the formula chips at a shocking rate. On my nails I can only get one day from Chanel but the shades I own are so gorgeous that it doesn't bother me, I'm happy to touch up my nails every other day in order to drool over the colour and finish all over again. I change my polish quite often anyway but I imagine it's a huge pain for anyone who like's to get close to a week out of their mani.

The latest addition to my enormous nail polish family is 'Rose Insolent' which is from the Chanel Rouge Allure Fall Collection from a few years back. I was lucky enough to find this beaut on a blog sale for £5 and ever since it landed on my door step, it's been on my nails! I'll be the first to admit there's nothing unique about this shade but for some reason I just adore it. It's a gorgeous pink creme polish and the formula is fantastic (apart from the chipping) it's fully opaque and streak free with 2 coats, and the high shine finish makes me love it even more but I always apply top coat anyway.

Products Used:
Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Base Coat
Chanel 'Rose Insolent' (2 coats)
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri

In my photo's it looks almost neon for some reason so I had a look online and found some true to life swatches (link)

  1. I think that for the price, Chanel's polishes ought to be of a better quality, as all I hear is about how quickly they chip x

    1. They remind me of Essie in the way they chip on some people but not others. Essie chips really badly on me, some shades within 5 hours. I agree, they should really work on making the formula longer lasting.

    2. I've never tried Essie or Chanel because if I buy a polish over £5 I expect it to actually be better than just pretty in the bottle, haha x

    3. So do I but I like to try other brands and there's certain colours I'm willing to make an exception for. You might be one of the few they actually last well on. :) I think half the problem is how bendy my nails have been lately, all the nail polish brands I own have been chipping really badly apart from Priti NYC. Even O.P.I shades that used to last around 5 days on me chip after a day.

  2. Gorgeous colour! Chanel polishes are not too bad in terms of their ingredients either :) x

    1. Really? Thats good to know. :) I've never checked the ingredients but always expected there to be a lot of nasties stuffed in.

    2. All nail varnish is made of chemicals but Chanel doesn't have the three major nasties in it (Formadahyde, Toluene and phthalates), just wish they were cruelty free! x

    3. For some reason I always thought they contained 'The Big 3'

Me too. Will the new animal testing law not include Chanel?

    1. How long do they usually last on your nails? They're so easy to apply and the finish is always gorgeous. :) I love pinks too!

    1. I know, I would leave the Chanel counter feeling as if I'd been mugged! lol Luckily I only paid £5 for this from a blog sale & my other one was a gift.

  6. Such a nice color I don't own any Chanel polishes. There's no way I'd pay that much for something that only lasts a day! I get around 7 days of wear from Sally's Hanson's nailgrown miracle, and its like 8 bucks :P

    1. 7 days? That's crazy! We're all different though, cetain Sally Hansen shades crack and shatter on my nails. Even some of the nail treatments do the same. I think Chanel polishes make a great gift for anyone who loves nail polish, especially the limited edition shades.

  7. This is so pretty! I personally quite like Chanel nail polishes, I only have Rose Caché but I think it's beautiful and I get a good 3-4 days wear out of it. I definitely agree on your comment that they make great gifts too :D

    1. I really wish I was one of the few who get 5ish days wear from Chanel. My granny gets almost 2 weeks from 'Vertigo', madness!
