What's In My Makeup Bag: Beauty Balm

Fran was looking for fellow bloggers for her Sunday post of What's in your Make Up bag - I'm super nosy I love seeing what others have in their make up bags!  Here is what is currently in mine -
My make up bag is from a company I came across on Twitter lovelammie a company based in Devon which make oil cloth make up bags and accessories. I recently picked up my Scarlett Oilcloth cosmetic bag - isn't it pretty!

I probably carry around way too much perfume in my bag - but I do like a choice!  Currently I'm carrying about Kai Perfume Oil, Acqua di Parma Acqua Nobile Gelsomino (which I reviewed recently) and atomisers of Chanel Sycomore EDT and Tom Ford Santal Blush EDP - both of these are staples of mine and I've reviewed them on my blog.

Base wise I've got a mini of YSL Touche Eclat Foundation (shade B40) and my powder is Chanel Poudre Universelle Compact in Translucent 2 - I just treated myself to this luxury.  It comes in its own wee velvet pouch too. I also have a small Benefit thePOREfessional for shine touch ups on the go.

For my cheeks I'm using Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips & Cheeks in shade 11 Pale pink.

I don't wear eyeshadow much usually just eyeliner and lots of mascara!  My current favourites are Anastasia Beverley Hills Covet Waterproof Eyeliner in Noir and Barry M Lash Vegas Black Mascara* which I was sent to review recently.  It is my new favourite - it just makes my lashes huge!

I also carry a pair of tweezers and Aromatherapy Associates Breathe Essence* - for times of stress! I've got a review of this on my blog.

Lipstick wise my current favourite is YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in shade 9 - my favourite lipstick of the moment.  I also carry S&G Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Plum Shine for when I want a bright pop of glossy colour.  I also carry about RODIN Olio Lusso Lip Balm (again review on my blog) and Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip & Cheek Stain.

Thanks Fran, for letting me share my make up bag.

Sandra always has fab makeup & skin care products. I've lost count of how many things I've ordered after reading about them on her blog. If you don't already follow her, you should! But be warned, your bank account will be a lot lighter after reading her posts which are usually daily. You can find Sandra's blog here or on Twitter: @beauty_balm
This is the last in the 'What's In My Makeup Bag' series. Thanks to everyone who took part! My wishlist is now a lot longer and I'm feeling the need to buy a new makeup bag. :)

Whats In My Makeup Bag: Ana Goes Green

Hello lovely readers of Been there done that got the lipstick!

My name is Ana and I am a green beauty blogger, Fran has asked me to give you a sneaky peak at what is in my makeup bag! Everything is from  natural brands and free from as many toxins as possible, I also only use cruelty free products.

I keep my everyday make up in this Moomin makeup bag that my husband bought me, I loved the books as a child and I fell in love with it the minute I saw it.

Essential care concealer: This is a creamy concealer in a stick format and I find that it covers both dark circles and very well. It is made from great ingredients such as lovely organic coconut oil and mineral pigments.

Essential care lipstick in Praline: This is my everyday lipstick, it is an easy to wear colour and and the formula is gorgeous and creamy.

Lily Lolo mineral foundation: I don't wear liquid foundation anymore because my skin is sensitive to some of the ingredients so this for me is the only answer, it does give a great natural finish and is an exact colour match for my skin, I love to apply it with my real techniques foundation brush.

Lily Lolo Silk finishing powder: I use this to set my undereye concealer, it is a lovely finely milled powder it doesn't look cakey at all under the eyes.

Lily Lolo concealer: I use this on areas where I need some more coverage and also sometimes I mix it with my mineral foundation.

Neals yard remedies eyeshadow: This is a pretty shimmery browny taupe colour perfect for a wash of colour all over the lid.

Lily Lolo miami taupe eyeshadow: Another neutral taupe eyeshadow, this one is a loose shadow so it is a little more fiddly than a pressed eyeshadow but I do love the colour.

Terre d'oc eye pencil: I don't wear black liner unless I am going out at night so this warm brown liner from Terre d'oc is perfect for using with the neals yard eyeshadow, it is a lovely which is asy to apply.

NATorigin mascara: Natural mascaras can be a bit of a nightmare, quite often the formulas flake or run but this one is great, it stays put all day long and it gives a lovely look to the lashes.

NVEY Eco blushes: These are really easy to use and apply really nicely, they are talc free and mineral oil free, I use both colours separately or sometimes I mix them. One is a soft pink and the other is a pretty apricot colour.

Green people powder: I use this in a shade that is a few shades darker than my natural skin tone as a bronzer, it is a really soft powder, again talc and mineral oil free. It gives a really natural glow to my face without any shimmer which is perfect for every day.

Inika highlighting cream: I use this as my eye primer, just a small amount keeps my eyeshadow in place for a work day, it works just like the Urban decay primer potion in sin but with natural ingredients.

Real techniques and Lily lolo brushes: I love the real techniqes brushes because the synthetic hair works so well with powder and liquid products and of course synthetic hair means cruelty free. I also use a Lily Lolo blush brush on a daily basis for bronzing the skin, this brush gives a soft finish to the bronzer with no harsh edges.

I would love to know if you would consider buying some natural or cruelty free make up items, and thank you to Fran for letting me share with you the contents of my make up bag.

Ana x

Thanks to Ana for letting us have a nosey in to her makeup bag! It's nice to see what makeup brands green bloggers use. I've had so many misses with natural makeup, it's good to know whats worth spending your money on. If you aren't already a reader of Ana's blog you can find it here or go say hello on Twitter: @Anagoesgreen

What's In My Makeup Bag: We Were Raised By Wolves

Hi everyone, I'm Evelyn from We Were Raised By Wolves. Fran asked me if I'd liked to do a 'What's In My Make-Up Bag?' post for her, so of course I had to say yes because I love reading these posts myself!  Whenever I travel, I generally like to keep things simple, but always manage to pack everything I need.  The make-up bag itself is from Boots years ago, and it's like a Tardis/Mary Poppins bag because it fits so much in, yet looks quite small!  I'm not sure how it does this, but I'm certainly not complaining.

Inside I currently have terre d'Oc BB Cream Foundation which is my current go-to make-up base.  It gives a nice light, all over evened out coverage and feels really nourishing on the skin.  I often pack something like this because I can apply it with my fingers so there's no need for me to include an extra brush or anything.

To go with that base, I have three concealers.  Perricone MD No Concealer Concealer is what I use to correct my dark circles with, and then I apply a tiny bit of Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer in Natural over the top with my Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush to add some more coverage.  If I have any blemishes, I'll go over them with Murad Blemish Treatment Concealer which works a treat.

I'm usually very lazy when it comes to doing detailed eye make-up on the go so I generally just take one base colour.  MAC Paintpot in Rubenesque has been a long time favourite of mine when travelling because I don't have to use a seperate eye primer underneath.  It's a beautiful shimmery coppery, almost rose gold shade that really brightens up tired eyes, yet looks very wearable for daytime.  To finish off the eyes, I'll line them with Soap & Glory Smoulder Kohl in Black, curl them with my trusty Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers and apply two coats of Lavera's Intense Volumising Mascara in Black.  The mascara isn't really super volumising or anything as the name would suggest, but I really like the easy to wear formula of it for everyday.

Like eyes, I like to keep the lips simple with just one product.  Revlon Just Kissable Balm Stain in Honey is fantastic for being fuss-free and I love this pink shade when it's freshly applied, as well as it when it just leaves a subtle stain as the day wears on.  I always like to contour my chipmunk cheeks with some Benefit Hoola Bronzer and apply this with a Real Techniques Contour Brush to get a really nice natural look.  Finally, I'll apply Liz Earle Healthy Glow Powder Blush in Nude with my Everyday Minerals Angled Blusher Brush to finish my make-up off.

Thanks for reading and do pop over and say hello on my blog, We Were Raised By Wolves :)

I had a dream last week that I needed a MAC Paint Pot (does anyone else have dreams like this?) but didn't really know what shade to go for. Like Evelyn, I often wear one colour all over my lid so I think 'Rubenesque' will be the one. :) Thanks for Sharing the contents of your makeup bag with us! :) If you don't already follow Evelyn you can find her blog linked above and on Twitter: @beautywolfgirl

What's In My Makeup Bag: Beauty And The Chic

Hi there lovelies! Today I am writing on the lovely Fran's blog here, she kindly asked me if I would like to write a guest post. Of course I said yes! So thank you again Fran! I am writing about all the products in my make-up bag and have been wearing the same face for about a month now so this is what I have been carrying around with me every day. I will do a mini review of everything so let's get going!

Face Products - I've been using my Rimmel BB Cream for a while now and really really like it. I did a full review on my own blog if you are interested so just click here. Basically it provides a really nice coverage and lasts a long time. It will be great for summer as it's light-weight and has SPF 25 in it. Perfect! I have my usual holy grail powder which is the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural and it's amazing. It's not heavy at all and just sets all my base make-up perfectly without being drying or clogging my pores. For concealer I have gone back to my Collection Lasting Perfection one and don't really know why I changed. It's great and it's amazing on my under eye circles. Conceals and brightens the area really well without going cakey or creasing. Also covers up those pesky blemishes and redness too. Bonus! I switch my blusher up all the time so it depends which one I use on the day to what I will put in my make-up bag but the one pictured is MAC Dame blusher which is a pretty subtle pink and just looks lovely on. I've recently added the MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter to my bag and it's incredible. I will be doing a full review on this soon on my blog as it's the nicest highlighter I have ever used. Such a pretty shimmer with a slight purple tone to it. And it only cost £3.00. Who doesn't love a bargain?

Eye/Brow Products - I haven't been using a lot of shadows lately as I've been going for the subtle soft brown smokey look which I use my Avon True Colour Quad in Mocha Latte to create. It lasts so well on my eyelids and creates the perfect subtle "no make-up" make-up look. I also use the two darkest shades to fill in my eyebrows because the shades match perfectly. Since using this product for my brows, I've had so many compliments on them. I will be very sad when it's all used up as I've hit pan on two shades and nearly on the other two. I then use my Natural Collection Clear Mascara to set my brows. I used to use the MAC one but it was a clear tube and the product looked disgusting after a while. It also cost around the £10.00 mark and the Natural Collection one costs £1.99, does exactly the same thing and doesn't look disgusting as the tube is white and not see-through. For mascara, I always change this up too, I am currently using Deborah Milano Lash Creator Volume & Care and will also be reviewing this too. It's great at creating big full lashes and doesn't clump. They don't look spider like either which is great because I really hate spider lashes.

Lip Products - I generally only keep one lip balm in my make-up bag and all other lippies are in my actual handbag in a zip pocket. The lip balm in my make-up bag though is MAC Lip Tint in Petting Pink and it's such a pretty sheer pink. you can layer it up to get a  more intense colour from it but I like it when it's sheer looking. It's very moisturising and smells great too!

Other Bits and Bobs - I usually carry around a couple of make-up brushes. My Bobbi Brown Blusher Brush in the travel size never leaves my make-up bag and neither does the ELF Kabuki Brush which I use to apply my powder with. The following brushes I take in and out for use at home and then pop them in my bag to carry around with me. These are: MAC 266 Angled Brush and MAC Spooly Brush for my eyebrows, MAC Eyelash Curlers, MAC 224 Fluffy Blending Brush for applying the highlighter and my ELF Blending Brush to apply my eyeshadows. I also carry around a mini pair of tweezers which I'm sure were made for fairies, they are so small! And a mini pot of moisturiser. I just rinse out the tub and fill it up whenever it runs out and currently have Clinique Moisture Surge in there.

And that is everything I carry around with me. Sorry it's a bit of a long winded post and I hope you have enjoyed it. I love reading these kind of posts because I'm nosey and it's a great way of finding new things to try. If you enjoyed this read, feel free to check out my blog at Beauty And The Chic, it's a mixture of beauty, fashion, books and lifestyle posts. Stop by and say hi!

Do you use any of these products? What do you carry around in your make-up bag?
Thanks for reading,
xxx

Claudia was the one who first made me want to try the Rimmel BB Cream and I agree, it's brilliant! :) Claudia's blog is linked above, you can find her on Twitter too: @Beauty18Claudia Huge thanks for taking part and sharing your makeup bag goodies with us.

What's In My Makeup Bag: Emily Has Dimples

When Fran first asked me to take part in her makeup bag series, we ended up sending several emails back and forth as I didn't know which makeup bag to write about! Call me a hoarder, I am one (though I like to think I am progressing towards a more streamlined collection with regular spring cleaning) but my makeup is spread over three different areas- my storage, my 'getting ready' bag and my travel makeup bag- my 'top up' bag if you like. I have to look presentable as part of my job so I often have to add a bit here and there throughout the day to keep things looking fresh. I also prefer to carry more rather than less, I hate not being prepared. It is this bag I have decided to include, so read on to find out my makeup and beauty essentials for on the go!

The Basics

My mirror is one of the most important items for makeup on the go! This one was a free one I got from YSL- it's a rectangle shape framed with black patent leather and YSL embossed onto it. With this terrible weather I have been carrying around L'Occitane dry skin hand cream- I'm bit of a hand cream slut I must say, I am not particularly loyal to any brand, but this one is sample sized so isn't too bulky to carry.
The hair grips and cotton buds are always getting used, I rely on cotton buds to touch up any makeup smudges. I carry eyelash glue 'just incase' but I can't say I have had to use it yet. Soap and Glory 'Hand Maid' gel is an essential in both my makeup bag and my brush belt at work, I am a hygiene freak so always need to have clean hands. In my opinion, Hand Maid is the queen of antibacterial hand gels, not only is she pink but she's got a good scent too.

I always like to be able to have a spritz of perfume throughout the day. I favour smaller bottles of perfume so that they can be thrown in my bag and not be too heavy. My favourite brand of perfume is Jo Malone, I have several at home and tend to rotate them around, at the moment I am using Vanilla and Anise. It's definitely a winter scent so once the sun decides to make an appearance I'll be swapping it for something fruitier.

The colours and brands will vary, but doing my nails has become a bit of a habit on my train journeys. If it means I get to go to bed half an hour earlier the night before and do it on the train, then that's what I'll do! I'm on the search for a good base coat at the moment, but in terms of colours- I've been enjoying classic reds as well as British racing green- I love Illamasqua 'Throb', 'Glitterati' 'Kink' and Essie's 'Stylenomics.'

The Makeup

When a mascara begins to dry/run out a little, it gets moved into my this bag. They often don't have enough 'oomph' left in them to be used in the morning, but slightly older mascaras are great for topping up- my lower lashes especially loose product and definition throughout the day. Lancome Hypnose Drama is truly fantastic- the wand is big (but not too big), and the fibrous bristles cling on and coat every lash- the formula does a good job of keeping my stubborn straight lashes curled. Would definitely recommend. I use Collection's Fast Stroke liquid eyeliner to top up any smudges that may appear, this only happens if my eyes have been watering. This particular one is a stop gap- I find it uncomfortable when it dries and the brush is too fat.

As I mostly do my lipstick when I am out of the house, I carry a selection of lip pencils ready to cater for whichever colour I decide on. I carry a sharpener for when I need to sharpen them. I like to chop and change my lip colour depending on the season and my mood, I have pictured two recent favourites; Illamasqua lipstick in 'Immodest' from the recent I'mperfection collection- a bright neon coral, and MAC 'Rebel'- a deep plum which has been perfect this winter. I carry Korres Lip Butter because it acts as a great base coat for matte lipsticks.

Last but not least, Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer- this is probably my most used item pictured. It's one of the only products I feel lives up to its extensive 'blogger hype'. I find this blends really well and gives good coverage. It doesn't crease underneath my eyes and is a good colour match for my fair skin. If you haven't tried it yet then give it a go.
Thanks to Emily for giving us a peek in to her make up bag! :) The L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream is my favourite and I'm now feeling the need to buy Lancome Hypnose Drama! You can find Emily's blog here or follow her on Twitter: @emilydimplesxo

What's In My Makeup Bag: Bright Town Girl

I know the majority of us love having a look into other peoples handbags, makeup bags and even showers so I've decided to start a weekly feature where beauty bloggers show the current contents of their makeup bags! I apologise in advance for any wish lists which might just happen to double in size during this time but we're a nosey, needy bunch aren't we. ;) First up is Alice from Bright Town Girl

Hey readers of Been There, Done That, Got The Lipstick. I'm Alice from Bright Town Girl and the lovely Fran has asked me to share the contents of my make up bag with you.
I have been house sitting for some friends recently so I thought I would share with you what I took away with me.
First my make-up bag is from Primark a while back, I don't think it was any more than £5. I think it’s really cute and it fits loads in.
When I go away I always pack my essentials which include the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer 01, Clinique High Impact Mascara, Rimmel Stay Matte Translucent Powder, Collection Illumination Touch Concealer, MUA Professional Eye Primer and my Mac Quad which includes Copperplate eye shadow which I use for my brows. These are products I reach for almost daily and that I always repurchase.
I have been loving the MUA Undress Your Skin Illumination Foundation recently so I decided to bring that with me, also the Shimmer Highlighter from the range for when I want to add some highlight to my cheekbones
For under my foundation I have the Witch Anti Blemish Skin Primer which acts a great base for any foundation as well as helping with my pesky blemished skin. Too finish my base off I then dust some Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzing Powder all over to give me a bit of colour and I have my Ebay Blush Palette to add a bit of colour to my cheeks. This palette includes every colour blush you could wish for.
For my eyes I brought along the Urban Decay Glinda Palette which is my new favourite thing. This has a lovely mix of pink neutrals as well as some deeper purples which you can create some wonderful looks with. It also contains a 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Rockstar for when I want to add some definition.
Lastly for lips I have L'oreal GlamShine Gloss Stain in Princess and Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss in Belladonna. Both of these are long lasting lip colours that have great pigmentation with a glossy finish.
For Tools I have my trusty Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers, Sigma E25 for blending shadow, Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush for concealer, Laura Mercier Eye Crease Brush for crease work, The Vintage Cosmetics Company Eye Shadow Brush to pack eye shadow on, Crown Brush angled liner and Spoolie for my brows, Japonesque Blush Brush, The Vintage Cosmetic Company Duo Fibre Brush for bronzer, Sephora Mineral Brush for powder and Eco Tools Buffing Brush for foundation. Phew!
As you can tell I am not really a travel light kind of girl, but I do use these most days to do my full face of make up.
Thank you Fran so much for letting me feature on your blog and I hope everyone enjoyed my post?
I was so excited to see the Sephora Mineral Brush included, I'll soon me getting my grubby mitts on one of my own and can't wait to try it. The MUA foundation sounds really good too! I'm still a MUA virgin but have a feeling that might change soon. :) Thanks to Alice for sharing the contents of her makeup bag! If you don't already follow Alice's blog I've linked it at the start of this post or you can go say hello on Twitter @BrightownGirl

4 Night's Away: Make-Up & Perfume.

I'm going away for 4 nights on the 2nd of December so thought I'd show what has made the cut. First up is make up. Years ago I would take almost every item of make up I owned, I could never decide what to bring with me and surprise surprise, the majority of it never saw the light of day. Now I'm much more sensible and keep my make up to a minimum. I only bring what I know I'll definitely use it and as it's a spa break I more than likely won't want to wear make up anyway. So what made the cut?

Make Up:
YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat
Garnier Roll-On Anti-Dark Circles
YSL Touche Eclat
Chanel Illusion D'Ombre 'Emerveille'
Estee Lauder Lash Primer Plus
Estee Lauder Zero Smudge Lengthening Mascara
Nars Blush 'Douceur'
MAC MSF 'Soft & Gentle' (not pictured)
BareMinerals Hydrating Lip Tint 'Juicy'
DIY Tinted Brow Gel
Liz Earle Brow Pencil 'Fair'*

Brushes:
Real Techniques Buffing Brush
Real Techniques Delux Crease Brush
Real Techniques Blush Brush
Perfume:
Stella In Two Peony

I'm all chuffed with myself. I've been quite strict and only packed one of each thing - one blush, one lip product etc. The cases from the Real Techniques collections are so handy for travelling! No more getting the bristles caught in the zip of my make up bag or covered in fluff and whatever else seems to lurk at the bottom of bags. They're so handy to have. Stella In Two Peony has been discontinued, sad times! So now I only use it on special occasions to make it last as long as possible.

Are you a good packer or do you try squeezing the kitchen sink into your make up bag?

Whats In My [everyday, no-brainer] Makeup Bag..

Make up bag from River Island a few years ago. Theres a plastic coating over the fabric so its easy to wipe off any grubby finger prints.

I dont use everything in this pic everyday, some I never use at all (Collection2000 concealer) but all these products require almost no thought or effort which is why they're in my everyday bag.

Urban Decay Naked Palette
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Laura Geller The Real Deal Concealer (this stuff is hardcore)
Murad Skin Perfecting Primer, Dewy Finish
Technic Natural Lashes (a cheapy clear mascara that I use on my brows, its rubbish and has almost no hold at all)
Virgin Vie Straight & Narrow Liquid Liner (black)
Virgin Vie Black Velvet Liner

MAC MSF Soft & Gentle
Laura Geller Balance -N- Brighten
Laura Geller Blush -N- Brighten in Roseberry

Benefit Brow Zings (dark)
Collection2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer (I know I'm the minority but I hate this with a passion)
L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara
YSL Touche Eclat

Max Factor Bewitching Coral (how orange does it look in this pic. On my lips it shows up really pinky, I love it)
Mac Creme Cup

Bellapiere Eyeshadow in Gold & Brown
MAC 187
Clarins Instant Light, Natural Lip Perfector 01
Maybelline Gloss in Cosmic Pink
L'Oreal Brush

I've lost my Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint, Have no clue where I've left it! So I'm having to use up the rest of the samples I had. Bet it shows up in the fridge or some other random place. Anyone else have a habit of putting things in stupid places? Is it just me who puts the kettle in the fridge and milk in the sink?
