Desert Island Products 2011.

I'm not going to include everything I loved in 2011, I'm fickle and change products almost weekly so instead I've picked products that I didnt stray from once I started using them.

Moroccan Oil: I've had this bottle on the go for almost 2 years now so yes its expensive but it lasts and lasts. My hair was in rehab throughout 2011, I had absolutely butchered it with bleach in 2010 and without Moroccan Oil I'm a complete frizz-ball!

Tangle Teezer: Never in a million years did I think this lump of plastic would make such a difference, I put off buying it for so long because I honestly didnt think it would live upto all the claims, how wrong was I. Im convinced I would have ripped my hair out by the roots in a fit of knotty rage by now if I hadnt purchased this life saver.

Liz Earle Botanical Shine Shampoo: This is the shampoo & conditioner xmas set but I'm only talking about the shampoo here. I've repurchased this product ALOT, I wasnt sure if I should include it as I dont find it as effective anymore but the whole point of this post was the products I didnt stray from in 2011 and I didnt. Benefit BrowZings: I've always tried to define my brows with powders and pencils but was never happy with the result. I was always so jealous of girls with perfectly shaped brows and had just about give up my search when I found Browzings. I never over-pluck but my brows stop short and have bald patches because of my overactive thyroid, its a pain in zee ass! For around 2 years now I've been having my brows waxed at the same Benefit Brow Bar and was always amazed at how well the girl shaped and filled them in for me but I was sure it only looked so easy because she was a pro, knowing my luck I'd end up like something from Desperate Scousewives! Anyway, I trotted off to a Benefit counter to have a play around with the brow kit, I'm quite pale but have dark hair so was sure I'd need 'medium' but medium is soooo red. In the end I had to go for dark so if anyone ever decides to buy this, make sure you try the shades out first. It comes in a compact with powder, wax, 2 mini brushes and mini tweezers. I only use the wax which might seem weird but it works for me. Browzings is quite expensive but lasts forever. If any of you know of a similar product let me know so I can check it out.

Urban Decay Naked Palette: So predictable, I know, but this is seriously true love. Me and e/s had gone our seperate ways for a few years untill I gave in and purchased this. The colours are so me, I'll never stray, I'll be faithful to naked forever and ever amen. The same can be said about Primer Potion, I just love when a product does what it claims to do.

Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Top-Coat: As most of you will know by now, I'm a complete nail freak and without a doubt this bad boy is my HG nail product. I still havent gave it a much deserved review but I will.

Philosophy Eternail Grace Perfume: I've been wearing loads of different perfumes but no matter what mood I'm in, where I'm going, what I'm doing - Eternal Grace is my main man. Same can be said for all the Grace scents. Its the type of scent that makes people say 'you smell lovely' rather than 'your perfume smells lovely'.

SBC Aloe Vera Gel: My skin is super sensitive, waxing brings me out in itchy hives and causes redness that lasts all day. Aslong as I slather on this green slime straight after getting waxed then I'm fine. A simple product but still one of my must haves.

  1. Sleek is now doing a browzings product - it is literally exactly the same only the brushes aren't as nice. I bought it and I'm not sure why... I don't think I'll ever run out of my benefit one! Love your blog bdw x

  4. Love the idea of 'desert island' products! Can't wait to read a full review on the Nails Inc topcoat.. I'm in the market for a new one! (I take it it's not gloopy like some of their coloured polishes!) x

  5. Bookanimals: oooh, I'll have to check that out. Are the shades the same as Browzings?

Emily: I love Moroccan Oil but I doubt I'll buy another bottle, its packed full of silicones so thats why it seems to tame frizz so well. I bought a huge jar of virgin coconut oil, have been using it as a treatment and a really tiny amount on the midlengths and ends of my hair once its dry.

Zoe: I'll try to review it this week, I keep meaning to but for some reason it never happens.

Boscy: Its not gloopy at all (untill you get to the end of the bottle) but I've never found a polish that doesnt do that. Its a thick top-coat rather than runny and thin, I slap it on like a good'un and its touch dry in a few secs. I dont get sheet marks or smudges atall now.

  8. I've been using Liz Earle's hair products this year also! I feel the same about them losing their effectiveness though. I saw the tangle teaser the other day too and was wondering whether it would be any good! Following you now :) http://lottys-luxuries.blogspot.com/
