Big Sexy Hair Flip It Over Texturizing & Finishing Spray

Every time I show my mum a product like this I can predict the six words that will follow 'you've already got big hair sure' she's right but it's only big because it's curly, frizzy, thick and almost elbow length. Once I've styled my head beard, banished the frizz and whatever else, it's limp bizkit at the roots thanks to the weight. The mention of 'Flip It Over' made me imagine this product would give me masses of body in the root area but if I'd bothered to read the description properly instead of getting overly excited I would've realised that's not what this product is designed to do.

Big Sexy Hair Flip It Over Texturizing & Finishing Spray* is exactly that, a texturizing and finishing spray. Sorry to sound like captain obvious but I wouldn't want anyone to buy it thinking they're getting a root booster of some sort. It's designed to be used on dry hair after styling. You flip your head over, spraying and scrunching/shaking you're hands through your hair at the same time then flip your head back over. The end result is what I was hoping to get from the Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray, texture that lasts with a decent amount of hold plus it makes my hair appear fuller. It can also be used after all the hair flipping to hold your style in place but I don't feel the need to do this.

After having a quick look at reviews, it seems you'll either love it or loathe it. I like that it's an aerosol rather than a squirty bottle as it allows me to spray the product more evenly over my hair instead of directly on to one spot. It sprays out just like a hair spray and feels similar but slightly more sticky so it's important to make sure you spray from arms length.

TIGI S Factor Flat Iron Shine Spray Heat Defender

Want to protect your hair from heat damage, keep frizz at bay and have sleek, glossy locks that smell great without weighing down every strand with a handful different products? Of course you do so read on.

My hair can take a lot of different products at once as long as I don't apply them too near the roots and I kinda enjoy the whole hair care routine ritual that takes place everytime I wash my hair but I know a lot of  people steer clear from thermal protectants and styling products as they can sometimes overload the hair and lank locks are never something we aim for. TIGI S Factor Flat Iron Shine Spray Heat Defender* offers protection from heat styling and daily UV rays but because the texture is very fine, light and almost oily it helps tame frizz and adds a gorgeous healthy looking shine to the hair. For me it acts as a heat protector, frizz serum and a shine spray. I even use it on the ends of my hair after styling once my hair is fully dry to seal any split ends then run whats left on my hands over the rest of my hair. The formula contains vitamins A and E to condition and nourish the hair and protect hair from enviromental damage.

The scent of this heat spray is going to be the decider for most people as it's very sweet which I know everyone isn't a fan of but if you're like me and don't mind your hair smelling like a bag of Pick 'n' Mix, it won't be an issue. It would be great for travel too as it's easily decanted into a travel sized spray bottle and cuts down on the bulk of hair products you'll need to bring.

What heat spray do you use?

Worth The Hype: Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blush 'Cherub'

Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blush 'Cherub'*

I first became aware of Daniel Sandler and his products through my obsession with QVC but up untill last year I'd never tried anything. On QVC he come's across as such a lovely man and really explains how to get the best results from his products, and if you follow him on Twitter (link) you'll know how hilarious he is.

I'm sure the famous Watercolour Blush is on everyone's radar, you'll either own and love it or have it on your wishlist. The only hard part is deciding which shade to go for as they all look stunning and really wearable. I decided to go for 'Cherub' as it's the one I've heard/read about the most.

I need to talk about the texture first! For some reason I was expecting the texture to be the same or atleast similar to Benefit Posie Tint which I'm not the biggest fan of. I know a lot of people love it but whether I use my fingers or a brush to apply it, I always feel like it's removing my foundation. The Watercolour texture is very thin, it has a silicone feel to it but it's almost watery and doesn't remove my foundation at all! You can't feel it on your skin, it's really lightweight and it lasts all day. You can buy the Watercolour Brush from Daniel Sandler but I've just been using my Real Techniques Buffing Brush or MAC 187 and it works perfectly fine. I dab it on with the brush then blend out any edges if I need to. You can go for a subtle look or layer it up for a more intense finish which makes it great for most skintones.

The bottle is teeny and only holds 15ml of product but you need such a small amount for each use that it's bound to last a long, long time. I've lost count of how many rave reviews I've read on this product but for me it's definitely worth the hype.

Is there a Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blush Appreciation Society? There should be.

TIGI Bed Head Foxy Curls Hi-Def Curl Spray

TIGIBEDHEAD

TIGI Bed Head Foxy Curls Hi-Def Curl Spray*

I've been giving my hair a well deserved break from heat mostly due to laziness ;) but also in an attempt to improve the condition. My hair is really long, thick and curly/wavy but if I ever want to leave it curly I need to use product of some sort or I'm left with what looks like a mountain of frizz! I'm probably the fussiest person alive when it comes to styling products, I can't stand products that make my hair look wet or feel hard/crispy but at the same time a bit of hold wouldn't go amiss.

Tigi Bed Head Foxy Curls Hi-Def Curl Spray is designed to help you achieve highly defined, frizz-free, separated curls. It can be used on wet hair after washing or on dry hair to give your curls an extra boost. After washing, conditioning and tangle teezing my hair I squeeze the excess water from my hair with a towel just how I would before using hair oils or any styling product. Once my hair is wet but not soaking I tip my head upside down, do a few sprays then tip my head back doing the same to the rest of my hair. I use my tangle teezer to make sure the product is worked through evenly so I don't end up with random missed parts of hair then scrunch and leave to dry naturally. I wake up the next morning like curly sue but a few head shakes loosens it up and if any stray frizzies appear around the top of my hair I smooth them down with a tiny bit of oil.

I would describe the finish of Hi-Def Curl Spray as very natural. Once you realise how much product is enough for your hair (my hair can take quite alot) you won't end up with that wet perm look, just defined, soft , natural curls. And did I mention how good it smells?!

Have you tried this before?

Review: Milk_Shake Active Milk Mask

Milk_Shake Active Milk Mask £13.69*

This month from Hair.trade.com, one of the UK's leading online retailers of  hair extensions, hair care and beauty products I've been trying out Milk_Shake Active Milk Mask. Milk_Shake is a haircare brand which is new to me. I've never heard of Milk_Shake before and it's not a brand I've ever spotted on the highstreet so I was interested to see how well it worked. I'm really fussy when it comes to hair masks/treatments and the majority do little to help my long, thick, over processed hair. One of the things I dislike about hair masks is having to wait 20-30 minutes while a the mask does it's job so the fact Active Milk Mask works in 3-5 minutes definitely appealed to me.

Milk_Shake Active Milk Mask is a rich mask based on milk proteins. It contains rice and avocado oils, Vitamin E and Integrity 41 (a special ingredient to help strengthen the hair). As I mentioned above, my hair is very long (mid back length), thick, curly/wavy and coloured. My mid-lengths and ends are very dry but my roots get greasy very quickly which is why I cant stand products that leave any resdue behind. Active Milk Mask comes in a 200ml pot with an easy to open screw off lid. The texture isn't runny but it isn't overly thick either like I expected it to be since it is designed to deeply nourish and reinforce dry/damaged hair. The scent is lovely, it smells like sweet cream and lingers on the hair all day. After washing my hair I wring out the excess water and apply a generous amount concentrating on my mid-lengths/ends and then skim whatevers left on my hands through the rest of my hair. I don't comb it through, I just clip my hair up and leave it to work it's magic for 5 minutes while I get washed. If my fingers can glide through my hair while I'm rinsing off a hair mask then I know it's good and that's exactly what I was able to do with Active Milk Mask. My hair felt like silk, it was easy to rinse and after straightening my hair felt so soft and stayed that way untill the next wash.

Milk_Shake Active Milk Mask is an impressive hair mask and one I would fully recommend to anyone with hair similar to mine but there is one thing that ruins it all for me - it contains parabens. If you're not bothered about parabens then this won't be a problem for you but I'm finding myself letting more and more paraben packed products into my routine because they just work so well (not the parabens, the products).

Have you tried this mask before?

Review: ST. TROPEZ Gradual Tan Everyday Mousse

ST. TROPEZ Gradual Tan Everyday Mousse £16.34*

Hairtrade.com is one of the UK's leading online retailers of hair extensions, hair care and beauty products. This month from the vast array of products available on the website I decided to try St.Tropez Gradual Tan Everyday Mousse. Back in the day when I used to be a tan junkie I always favoured mousse or runny liquid almost water type tanning products to the thick cream types as they just dry so much quicker on my skin. I haven't used a mousse or St. Tropez in a long time but it was as easy as I remember it being.

This time of year I always prefer a more natural looking tan as a deep tan on my fair skin in this weather isn't going to fool anyone but I find the usual gradual tanning lotions turn my skin a weird shade of yellow (has anyone else noticed this?) St. Tropez Gradual Tan Everyday Mousse doesn't have a colour guide so you do have to be careful with application to ensure you haven't missed any bits and don't end up with hideous streaks but the mousse is just so easy to apply. It glides along the skin and dries within a few seconds so you don't need to do the flappy, naked John Wayne style walk around your room before getting dressed.

You can top up with this tan as often as you like. I usually apply it a few hours before bed then shower the next morning. I've been applying another coat every other night and have been really pleased with the results. The website states that St. Tropez's  innovative Aromaguard™ fragrance technology eliminates the tell-tale self tan aroma by a minimum of 70% and while it is one of the least whiffy tans I've ever used I can still catch the odd tan pong before showering but it's nothing compared to other self tanners on the market.

Overall it's a great product and one I would fully recommend to anyone who prefers a more natural glow in the winter months.

Daniel Sandler Lipshine Lipstick in 'Hush'

Hairtrade.com is one of the UK's leading online retailers of hair-extensions, hair care and beauty products. I've discorvered some of my favourite products through Hair Trade and this month I decided to try my first ever Daniel Sandler product. I've been aware of Daniels products for years now and had read tonnes of great reviews but to my knowledge nowhere local to me stocks the range so I've never been able to see the products in person.

Daniel Sandler Lipshine Lipstick in 'Hush' £13.25*
Lipshine Lipsticks offer a sheer wash of colour instead of the usual block colour you would expect from a lippy but the colour can be built up. The packaging is right up my street, its a deep, glossy, reflective silver. I love weighty, sturdy, well made packaging. It just adds something extra to the product and its always nice to whip it out in public (how wrong does that sound! I promise I'm talking about the lippy ;)) It also has that satisfying click closure.

The lipstick itself is perfect for the colder months as the formula feels so nourishing on the lips. Its enriched with a blend of special oils to moisturise and condition which makes it ideal for anyone with dry, or even cracked lips. It contains Vitamins A, C & E, SPF 15 and is preservative free. Hush Is a really natural shade and I'm not sure how to describe it other than 'my lips but better' Its the type of shade that is going to suit every single skin colour, go with any make up look and look great on women (or men) of any age. If I had to choose a lippy for someone I didnt know very well, Hush would be a safe bet. It adds just the right amount of shine but never feels sticky or gloopy like a gloss. It feels almost like a balm on the lips but with a bit more slip and it isnt going to highlight any dryness.

Have you tried Hush or any of the other shades?
