Disappointing Products #1

Before we get into the post I just want to say I know these products may be loved by some. In fact, one of the mascara's is a favourite among bloggers but for me these products are disappointing. I don't mean to offend anyone or come across as a brand basher but everything I say is based on my own personal experience with the products.

Model Co Fibre Lashxtend Extreme Black Lengthening Mascara, Shine Ultra Lipgloss 'Strip Tease' & Eyeliner Pencil 'Black 01': The only time I buy magazines now is when there's good freebies. Model Co has been on my radar for a few years now so when I saw Glamour mag for only a quid and the free Model Co products (each product is close to £20) I snapped up 3 copies. I just can't get my head round how they jusify the prices. The packaging is cheap and the quality of the actual products is shocking. The mascara barely coats the lashes, it takes three coats to achieve what one coat from a highstreet mascara gives. The fibres aggravated my eyes to the point where I had to remove it. I have sensitive eyes but I'm no stranger to mascara containing fibres but this just took the biscuit. It didn't lengthen my lashes like it claims. It didn't do anything really. The liner was just as bad. It's pigmented but smudges and wipes straight off if you touch your eyes. It reminds me of kids make up. The gloss is just a string fest. It smells nice and the colour looks nice in the tube but on the lips it's completely clear and as soon as you open your mouth horrible strings appear. Luckily I only paid £3 for all 3 so it isn't a big loss but I really feel sorry for anyone who has paid full price.

MAC Lip Pencil 'In Synch': After all the rave reviews I'd read on this product I decided to go ahead and make it my first lip liner purchase from MAC. I love the colour but Im afraid that's where the love ends. The texture is very solid and dry, even when warmed on the back of my hand it's no easier to use. It drags, looks patchy and highlights any and every flaw. You need to apply so much pressure to get any colour to show up. I posted about it back in September (link)

Rimmel Scandaleyes Mascara: I don't even know where to start with this one. The packaging is revolting and overly bulky but the reason I bought it (apart from having a discount voucher) is because it has a huge brush which I usually love but for some reason I don't get on with this one at all. I end up with mascara all over my lids, my lashes feel so heavy and almost point towards the floor and it's flaky. Rimmel have been bringing out brilliant products over the last year or so but this mascara isn't one of them.

Benefit They're Real!: I'm definitely in the minority here but They're Real! doesn't deliver any of it's promises on my lashes. So glad I got my hands on a sample as I was really tempted to buy the full size a few times. The only way I can describe how my lashes look after using this is baaaaaad!

MAC Viva Glam Nicki: This shade looks absolutely gorgeous in swatches which is why I ordered it but on me it looks like a bad quality lippy you would find in cheap palettes. It's not a bad product as such, I just don't like the colour and worst of all, it makes my teeth look yellow which is  never good.

Una Brennan Rose Hydrate Intense Moisture Mask: I honestly can't tell if this mask does anything in the way of moisturising my skin but what I can tell you is it stings my face so badly that I can't even use it now. I really wanted to try more from the rose range but have a feeling I'll react the same way to it all.

Have you tried any of these products?
Do any of them disappoint you?

Shopping My *Sample* Stash #11

For this fortnights Shopping My Stash post I thought I would do something a bit different and only include samples. My Samples stash has passed the overflowing point so to help me make some space (for more samples no doubt) I thought this would be a good move.

Sephora Super Loaded Age Defy Serum & Age Defy Moisture Cream SPF 15: I have 2 samples of each of these and yes they're from Sephora which can only mean one thing, Lina! :D I adore Sephora makeup so hopefully the skin care is good too.

Phyto Express Conditioner for weakened damaged hair: I think Lina sent this sample too? She looks after me doesn't she. lol I've tried this conditioner before when it came in one of the FeelUnique beauty boxes but can't remember if I liked it or not. Looking forward to giving it another go.

John Masters Vitamin C Anti-Aging Face Serum: All the hair care products I've tried from John Masters have been fantastic but this will be the first skin care product I've tried. I'm kind of hoping I don't fall in love, the prices make my eye's water!

REN Invisible Pores Detox Mask: I completely forgot I had this sample! The reviews I've read have been good and anything that promises to make my pores look smaller excites me.

Burberry Lip Cover 'Rosewood': How cute is this lipstick, it's only the same length as my baby finger yet perfectly formed. The shade looks quite dark but my lips are really pigmented so on me it looks natural. This came in the Harrods Glossybox last year but hasn't had much love from me.

Benefit They're Real!: Everyone and their dog seem to love this mascara. It's recieved Holy Grail status from so many bloggers but for me it was a bit of a miss. I've only used it a few times though, maybe once it's dried out a bit I'll like it more.

Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel: I love cleansers. They're without a doubt the one skin care product I get most excited about. I love the whole cleansing process and once you've found 'The One' you've almost won the bad skin battle. I found mine last year in the form of Sarah Chapman Ultimate Cleanse. I'm now the proud owner of a full sized tube and use it religiously but y'know what we're like, we still like to try new things.

Rimmel BB Cream: I've kinda backed away from BB creams after being unable to find one I really love. Admittedly I haven't tried many but the few I have just didn't impress me. I've heard great things lately about the Rimmel version but didn't even know I had a sample untill my sample box got tipped upside down.

So that's yer lot for this fortnight, let's hope I get on well with atleast one of them.

Have you shopped your stash?
