When A Bargain Isn't A Bargain: Dainty Doll Concealer Pen 001 It's A Kind Of Magic

How many times have you heard 'it's only a bargain if it's something you'll actually use' Well this is something I would use, if it was useable! I've been looking for a cheaper alternative to my beloved YSL Touche Eclat so thought this would be a good place to start with the dirt cheap £1.99 price tag from a discount site, the RRP is alot more.

I ordered 4 things in total and love 2 of them but this concealer is just bad beyond belief. It could well be out of date but I'll be honest, I have items of make up I've owned for longer than Dainty Doll has been around and they still work perfectly fine so I'm guessing this product wasn't the greatest to start with. The concealer separates as soon as you put it on your skin (see photo) and when you try to blend or pat it in it turns into white patches that roll into clumps.

If you're thinking of placing an order on Fragrance Direct for this pen, don't! It may only be £1.99 but why pay for something that doesn't work.

Have you tried this concealer pen?

    1. I've just had a look on google and even people who bought this concealer from places like Boots have had the same problems with it. The Blushers are really good for the price, I got 2 cream blushers and just ordered 2 powder blushers. The lipstick seems quite good too but I haven't tried them myself.

  2. Being a redhead I was instantly drawn to
This brand but everything I've tried has been rubbish, foundations concealers lipstick and blushes, glad you find the blush ok though :-)
Disappointing as it was supposed to be for redheads and pale skinned ladies shame as this could have had real potential as a brand :-( xxx

    1. I'm very pale which is why I thought the range would be great for me. The mascara/liner duo isn't great either and I've read alot of bad reviews on the foundations too.

  3. Ooh this doesn't look good! I would like to try some of Dainty Doll's blushers and lipsticks, but that's all I've heard is good. Will definitely stay clear of the concealers! xx

    1. I've read that the cream concealers are really bad too. I like the blushers, I've only tried the cream ones so far but ordered a few powder bushers too. :)

    1. Thanks :) I've tried a few from different brands but nothing beats Touche Eclat for me. I know alot of people really don't like it but it brightens my eyes like nothing else, I love it.

  6. I've only tried one product from this range it was an eyeliner I received in a Glossybox. Was the worst eyeliner I had ever used had no colour payoff I literally had to scratch it onto my skin over and over again to get anything on there. Just dreadful.

    1. Sounds awful! Hate when liners need to be dragged over and over again to get any colour from them.

  9. I was not long ago looking at this on Fragrance Direct, glad I read your review because I won't be ordering now! I'm on the look out for a YSL dupe too, I've been trying The Body Shop Lightening Touch Pen, which is really good but costs £14.00 :s xx

    1. Glad to hear it, it's terrible. The Body Shop's prices are crazy at times! I haven't tried that yet but if all else fails I might give it a go.
