It's no secret that a good nights sleep helps everyone not only feel better but look better too. My sleeping pattern used to be all over the show but over the last year or so it seems to be getting better. Once I'm asleep I could sleep around the clock, it's the falling asleep part that gives me the most bother. Even if I've had a full 8 hours sleep which doesn't happen very often I still wake up looking more Scary Mary than well rested. I sleep on my side which results in a creased face and because I move around so much during the night my hair resembles what can only be described as a rats nest.
Recently I've been hearing a lot about the benefits of sleeping on silk pillow cases. Unlike cotton they have a slip to them which allows the skin on your face to move when you move rather than crease up and be held in the same postition all night. If you sleep on a certain side every night you'll notice that side of your face ends up with the most fine lines/wrinkles, I notice this happening mainly around my eyes. I can't comment on the long term effects of using silk pillow cases but what I can tell you is not only do they feel nice to sleep on but they reduce the amount of pillow marks I wake up with by almost 100% and my morning rats nest has disappeared completely. I took them to Paris with me, they've been washed a few times since I first started testing them out and they still feel as good as new.
Do you notice a difference when sleeping on silk instead of cotton?
Or are you lucky enough not to wake up with a frizzy barnet and pillow lines?

I've never heard of this tip, but it sounds good! I always look a mess in the morning, maybe I should try it

You can buy silk pillow cases which are sold with their only purpose being for beauty, the prices make my eye's water though. These ones are sold just as silk cases but work out a lot cheaper and they really do make a difference.

Love silk, also stops you hair from getting frizzy!

Brilliant for frizz, especially if you straighten your hair before bed to save you having to do it in the morning.

And as a last resort Lush sell satin scarves that they use as gift wrap...I tie mine around my pillow. It's a great alternative xx
ReplyDeleteHaven't tried that, thanks for the tip. :)
