Review: PeaceKeeper Cause-Metics Lip Paint

PeaceKeeper Cause-Metics Lip Paint in shade Paint Me Healed $12*

PeaceKeeper is a cosmetics line with a difference. Its the first cosmetics line to give all of its after-tax distributable profits to womens health advocacy and urgent human rights issues. They also provide 100% vegan products for animal lovers and never use ingredients such as carmine (really?). Lip Paints were nominated as finalists for best lip product of the year by CEW and rated only a 2 (low hazard) out of 10 (hazardous) by the Enviromental Working Groups ''Skin Deep'' rating system.

Lip Paints are described as 'creamy, deeply moisturising, rich in pigments, sensual' and whilst Paint Me Healed is very pigmented I didnt find it to be creamy or moisturising at all. The lipstick is very solid, I had to drag it across my lips a good few times before the colour would take. The finish super matte but surprisingly it didnt grab on to any dry patches like I expected it would. I was a bit disappointed that it wasnt moisturisng but this ment the colour lasted on my lips all day which almost never happens for me and I forgot I was wearing lipstick as it feels so light.

The thing that confuses me is how PeaceKeeper state that they dont use carmine in any products yet its in the ingredient list in the 4th photo above? 'Carmine: derived from the shell of the female cochineal insect (beetle). Used to produce a red coloring. Can cause allergic reactions'. Now this isnt a big deal for me, most lipsticks contain carmine and its not something I try to avoid when making a lipstick purchase but I feel the brand info is misleading. I hate to say anything bad about a brand who donates money to such good causes but I thought it was worth pointing out for those who make a conscious effort to avoid certain ingredients.

Have any of you tried anything from PeaceKeeper Cause-Metics?
