Swatched: The Pinks

I've downsized my nail polish collection quite a lot over the last few months. I sold loads in my blog sale, gave some to friends/family and some were gloopy beyond repair so into the bin they went. Pink is my favourite colour to wear on my nails - sheer pinks, bright pinks, white pinks, peachy pinks, baby pinks. Any type of pink really so it's no surprise that the majority of my collection is made up of pink.

I've swatched all the ones I've kept so this is going to be a very pic heavy post. All swatches are 2 coats with no base/top coat.

My all time favourite and most used pink polish (apart from Opera Ballerina) is Nails Inc Brompton Place but lately my favourite has been Dior Rosy Bow, it looks lovely on pale skin and after slapping on some tan, coral tones start to appear. It doesn't look like anything special in the bottle but it's a gorgeous colour! The formula is brilliant, lasts around 4 days on my nails. The brush is great too, reminds me a lot of the Rimmel pro brushes but shorter and thicker.

The Disaster Mani.

After taking to Ebay last week to order myself some nail art bits and bobs I thought it would be a good idea to attempt a non-dot design using dotting tools. Truthfully I didn't know what I was doing, I just knew I wanted some pastel shades on my nails. I'm rubbish at nail art and to be honest I'm a glossy creme nail girl and always will be. Textured finishes are completely lost on me and I only try my hand at nail art when I'm bored but more often than not remove it before I leave the house. So I armed myself with 2 Nails Inc shades: 'Brompton Place' and  'Bluebell'. A lovely lilac from Revlon: 'Charming', and Essie 'Fiji' was my base colour of choice.

I splodged 'Bluebell', 'Brompton Place' & 'Charming' on to certain areas of my nails then wiggled a dotting tool around to mess it up a bit but still keep them in their sections. After it'd had time to dry I added a dollop of top coat and that's it.

Do I like it? No, not really but I'm going to attempt different nail arty looks so thought uploading them on here would be nice to look back on.

NOTD: Dot To Dot Inspired.

For a while now I've been trying to hunt down some black studs for nail art. They're available online but after a disaster last year where I ended up with studs big enough to cover the width of my thumb nail and heavy enough to make my knuckles feel like they were trailing the ground I've been put off going down the online route. While having a snoop around Poundworld/Poundland on Saturday I spotted some nail art pens in the tackiest of colours but they came with black crystals which from a distance looked like studs. Admittedly they're a bit bigger than I would've liked but for a quid I can't complain.

I started to try something arty farty, I don't know where it was going but my nails started to resemble the talons of an under 11's school disco then I remembered Anna's Dot To Dot Mani. Go have a look if you haven't already, it's bloomin' lovely!

As I already said, the crystals are bigger than what I wanted so help a sistah out! What size do I need to be looking for online?

And a bit of a Bubba update. He's roughly 5 months now, a complete nutcase and I think having him as house cat was a good choice. Not only would I be worried about anything bad happening to him but this is what happens when I put him outside on his lead...

He spends more time crying to get back inside than playing and after 5 mins he jumped back in through the top hatch on the door.

I've Been Shopping..

Over the last few weeks I've tried my hardest to curb my online spending. I had a couple of slip ups (not beauty related) but apart from that I've been good. That all changed though when I walked into the biggest Boots I've ever seen! It stocked everything my local store doesnt so for the next hour and a half I walked up and down the isles getting my swatch on. I managed to pick up a few things I've wanted for a while and added another 12 things to my wishlist.

Boots:

L'Oreal Colour Riche Nail Polish in 'Opera Ballerina' x3 £4.99: This is my all time favourite nail colour. I love the brush, the colour, the formula and the finish. I've gone through 3 or 4 bottles already so stocked up while the 3 for 2 offer was on.

Essie 'Fiji' £7.99: I've wanted Fiji for a good 5 months now but theres no Essie stand in my local Boots and I absolutely hate the brushes on the regular Essie polishes so wanted to see this in person. The brush is far better and the colour is right up my street (a solid more opaque version of Opera Ballerina) but I'm still not lovin' the formula.

Real Techniques Starter Set £21.99: The Core Collection was one of the best purchase I've ever made even though I only use the buffing and contour brushes but the Delux Crease Brush has been calling my name so I finally gave in. Cant wait to try it out.

Real Techniques Blush Brush £9.99 (I paid £4.99): Still on a Boots high and busy drooling over the swatches on my arm I didnt notice this was a blush brush. I grabbed it for setting powder (I hope it works ok for that?) and it was on offer - buy 1 get 1 half price.

River Island:

Make Up Bag £10: My small make up bag that usually lives in my handbag died last week. It got a bit obesse and the zip broke. I just wanted something plain and thought this was a nice size.

Purse £10: My purses always seem to be from River Island, I dont know why. This was only a tenner and has plenty of space for my cards. My old purse was really structured so wouldnt close properly with more than 5 coins in it. It was lovely but a nightmare to use.

TK Maxx:

Phytorelax Laboratories Keratin Complex Shampoo £5.99: I'd never heard of this brand before and after a quick look on google I'm still none the wiser. I think its an italian brand but I could be completely wrong. The only thing I know is its a professional hair care brand and is free from parabens, sles and formaldehyde. Havent had a chance to try it out yet but if its any good I'll do a review.
