Review: Pur Minerals CC Cream

Pur Minerals CC Cream*

I've said it before and Ill say it again - I don't buy into the hype surrounding BB/CC creams and never will. To be completely honest, I roll my eye's everytime I see the adverts. I've only tried a few as to me they're just tinted moisturisers with more coverage. I think of them as a base, nothing more. If I like them I'll use them and if I don't I wont. I found a couple of really good BB creams I enjoy using but again, I think of them as a base, nothing more but this is my first step into the world of CC creams.

From looking at the American website there will be 4 shades in total: Light, Medium, Tan & Dark. The shade I've been using is 'Light' it's the perfect colour for me but I feel it will be too dark for most fair skins. The packaging is a hit, not only do I really like how it looks but it dispenses just the right amount of product and the lack of glass makes it perfect for travel. The product claims to moisturise, brighten, prime and conceal. It's silicone free with broad spectrum SPF 40. I'm so glad to see a high factor in there and even though foundation/moisturiser etc with SPF needs be reapplied throughout the day for it to really protect your skin (lets be honest, none of us do that) which often makes me think why bother including it in the first place, especially low factors such as 15. 40 offers enough protection while you go to the shop, drop your kids off at school and that kind of thing.

The finish is described as matte which I do agree with to a point. I don't know about anyone else but when I think of matte I think cakey and dull and let me tell you, Pur CC Cream isn't like that at all! It's matte in the sense that it doesn't feel sticky or tacky but it adds life to dull skin and looks fresh. The coverage is a lot better than I was expecting yet the formula is lightweight. It covers all the redness in my cheeks but still lets things like freckles show through slightly. The end result looks very natural and lasts around 8 hours on my skin without the need for powder. I think most skin types would get on great with this as it lasted well on my t-zone where I get quite oily and it didn't cling to any dry areas on my cheeks.

I think it's safe to say I'm impressed. Not by all the CC hocus pocus but by how well it works and looks as a base. If I try more CC creams in the future, this is the one they will have to match up to.

What's your thoughts on BB/CC creams?

Pur Minerals products are available from www.marksandspencer.com but I'm not sure when the CC Cream £25 will be joining the line up.

    1. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I do, it's such a lovely product. You can have sheer coverage or build it up, I use more on my cheeks where I get a lot of redness.

  3. It's great that is has delivered, I am just don't trust all of this BB, CC hype and the shades never seem to go pale enough for me to try them. This one sounds so nice, but again shame that they don't go fairer! xx
